Entry #8. Time Travel

Image
Hey everybody! This week, I watched two different movies about time travel. One of them, called "See You Yesterday", I really liked. Its about a two teens who spent their high school days inventing a time machine. This machine allows them to travel a day back into the future. But when one of their older brothers gets killed, they put their time machine to the test to go back and prevent it from happening. Many things get in their way, and the film ends with her going back alone one last time. At times I wonder if time travel will ever be possible. Albert Einstein came up with a theory called Special Relativity. Scientists have proven this theory to be true. Basically, this theory describes how time in space is different than time down here on Earth. For example, if you were to travel in a spaceship for 5 years, 50 years will have passed on Earth. Its crazy to think about because we haven't experienced it, but it is true. Im hoping in the future more studies are done...

Entry #7. Fresh

Image
Happy Sunday everyone! Have you ever wondered what goes into your foods and just how healthy the foods you're eating really are? The film "Fresh", by Ana Sofia Joanes, provides watchers with insights on how our farming and agriculture really works. In the film, many different farming techniques are shown. These days farmers focus more on how many animals they have rather than how healthy they are. Farmers want more animals to create more meats, dairy products, etc. They should focus more on raising healthy animals so that humans and animals are healthier. This film made me hopeful because it focused on how our food system is changing, and how so many authority figures are reaching out to help make sure the food we eat is healthy. Us as Americans should know what goes into our food. We have to face the effects of whatever we put into our bodies, so I think its important to know what exactly you are putting in. I encourage everyone to watch the film and really think ...

Entry #6. Is Netflix dying?

Image
I was on Netflix this past weekend, looking for something to watch in the free time I had. I caught myself thinking about all of the times I was in the same position, looking for something to watch on Netflix. Almost every time, I can't find anything good so I end up doing something else. I talked to some of my friends and they said they often find themselves taking ages to finally find something as well. I also remembered how Netflix has been taking away a lot of favorite shows and movies of their watchers.      I began to look up and research if anyone else has noticed this about the famous movie streaming application. While looking, I came across a web article about how "Netflix is going to die out in 2019". (The website link will be posted at the end of this blog post). The article, as a summary, described how Netflix is in a lot of debt and makes much less than smaller streaming sites. So, in conclusion, I guess Netflix really is dying out, whet...

Entry #5. An interesting commercial

Image
I recently watched an Allstate commercial that I thought was pretty funny. In the commercial, the driver is a man who has a beat up face. He is texting his friend "becky", and says they're both teenage girls. Him as a teenage girl, gets mad at the friend for liking the same guy as her. Then, it shows the pink SUV he is driving, crash into a nearby car. He then drives off, and an Allstate narrator promotes their car insurance as the woman is seen running to her crushed car.      I like how the car is a pink SUV and how he has pink sunglasses on. The fact that its pink ties in with the commercials idea about him being a teenage girl who crashed. He had a very girly phone that he was talking to Becky on, which he is seen throwing after he gets mad at her. This action is very "teen-girl like" which I think adds a humor to the commercial. I think this is targeted at people looking to get car insurance. But, as a narrower audience, I think its directed to ...

Entry #4. A Bittersweet Ending

Image
Hi everyone. This week has been very difficult for me and my family, as my great-grandpa passed away at 91. The funeral was this week, and it was a very emotional day for us all. About 200 people came to the funeral service. He was very well known because he was the sheriff of Safford. I drove 4 hours to stay with my family for a few nights and to attend the funeral.      The funeral service was very bittersweet. We are all sad he is gone, but everyone talked about how great of a life he had lived and how he wasn't suffering when he passed. We all miss him greatly but know he's in a better place now.      After the funeral, we all gathered at a church and ate his favorite Mexican food. We also had Mountain Dews for everyone to drink, since they were his favorite. Every day, from 9am to 10:30am, he sat in his shop and whoever wanted to could come and drink Mountain Dew and listen to his stories. He will always be remembered!

Entry #3. Free snack!

The other day when I was hanging out with a few of my friends, we went to QT. My friends went in and I stayed in the car. But my best friend came out with something for me! She handed me a snack. I haven't eaten one of these in so long! I grabbed the snack and the packaging was thin and long and made it easy to just pop one out. The contents are round and white. When I popped one in my mouth, it was so cold and icy-like. I took a breath and it made it burn a little in a good way!      When it hit my tongue I suddenly heard a sizzling noise. I closed my mouth and felt it start to dissolve on my tongue. My mouth was very cold. I started to chew it, and it dissolved into a bunch of tiny pieces. Once I swallowed, I took a drink of my water, which was a bad idea. It was extremely cold! But, my mouth did feel very fresh afterwards. Thanks to my friend, I now have these to freshen my mouth whenever I want to! Many people use these before dates, or even just...

Entry #2. College so far?

Image
Being in college has changed me a lot. I know its crazy, but the three weeks I have been in college have been the most stressful 3 weeks of my life. Ive had to deal with so much homework, struggling to find my classes and a close parking spot. Not only that, but the stress from college has worsened my personal life too. No time for friends, my boyfriend, or my family due to work and school all the time. Its hard!      But also on the other hand, being in college has already opened my mind so much. I see things from a really different perspective and im more open minded. Im excited to see where my college journey takes me. Im not quite sure what I want to do yet, but at least I am getting started and am only 17. I am taking general classes, that way when I decide what to major in, my credits will transfer over to ASU.          In this blog, I will be formatting my blogs to resemble my college experience. I welcome eve...

Entry #1. What are blogs?

Image
Blogs are really popular now-a-days with the internet being used worldwide. Many people look to the internet to answer their questions, due to there being sites/videos dedicated to just about any topic. I actually really enjoy blogs. They are very informative and if you find the right one, it can be pretty humorous. Blogs are a reflection of the author's personality and I love that about them. The authors are very passionate about it and pour into their writings. https://smittenkitchen.com - this is one of my current favorite blogs. The writer is very lively and their bubbly personality shows within their entries. They also know a lot about their blog's topic, food. The food posted on this blog always look amazing. Im hopefully going to try out a recipe someday soon! https://www.designsponge.com - another favorite blog of mine. I really like the way this blog is formatted/laid-out. It looks very clean and formal. This blog always inspires me to do new crafts and ...
